Professional Experience
Katie received her journalism degree in 2003 from Northwestern College in Roseville, MN. Immediately after college she started writing for Press Publications, a small-town newspaper in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

She covered the local City Council and School Board meetings in addition to writing features on local people and events. She enjoyed meeting people and learning about everything from skijoring - a sport that combines skiing and dog sled racing - to flying (she once took a flight lesson at a local airport so she could write about the experience).

Katie worked as an associate editor for Press Publications for four years before resigning to raise her newborn son. She has continued to write part-time for various nonprofit organizations and joined Foster Web Marketing as a content writer in April 2010.

Katie grew up in Minnesota as the oldest of five children. She married an Air Force Reservist and recently moved to Washington state, where she lives in a small town outside of Tacoma.

She spends most of her time caring for her two young boys and hyper dog, but in her spare time she likes to bake (anything chocolate) and tend to her garden.
