Another Benefit of SEO

Two Foster Web Marketing clients, Bob Batle in Virginia and Chris Davis in Seattle, recently picked up some press coverage thanks to their high SE rankings and authority, particularly with Google.

Bob was featured this morning in the Baltimore Sun in an article that compared the fines for speeding tickets in Maryland to those in Virginia.

Chris was interviewed by CNN'S Anderson Cooper on Natasha Richardson's death.





























How did the Baltimore Sun journalist and CNN producer track down our clients? A Google search, of course.

A lot of people are starting to think that SEO is on its way out and that social media the next big thing in Internet marketing.

I couldn't disagree more. Sure, Twitter is growing at amazing speed and, yes, more and more people are using Facebook, but will there ever be a site out there that replaces what seems to be the most popular phrase used by anyone with an internet connection when looking for the answer to something?:

"Google it"

Proably not, or at least not in the near future.

Spending time on social media and other web marketing methods is important, but if you're not spending time/money on building your website and making sure it's ranking well on search engines, remember this: search engine optimization is not only extremely effective, but when compared to other marketing techniques in a slow and struggling economy, it is also one of the most affordable.
