Attorney SEO Tip: Understand the Mechanics of Search Engines

Wordtracker.com posted an interesting article about the mechanics of search engines. The article entitled, Keyword Basics Part 1: How search engines work, attempted to shed light on one of the most frequently asked questions, “why isn’t my site showing up on Google?”

When it comes to being found on major search engines, such as Google, Bing and Yahoo, it is all about search engine optimization (SEO). As an attorney, you need to familiarize yourself with this term, as it will make all the difference in your Internet marketing campaign.

Here’s what you need to know about SEO and its impact on search engines, there really is no big secret. There is no highly confidential strategy that only a few elite people know about. It all comes down to content and link building. However, if you are going to create an attorney SEO campaign, you do need to understand how search engines operate.

The Wordtracker.com article explained search engines well when it stated, “there are three pieces of software that together make up a search engine: the spider software, the index software and the query software.” The article went on to say:

  • “The spider software crawls the Web looking for new pages to collect and add to the search engine indices.
  • The index software catches everything the Spider can throw at it.”

So, here is what this means for you – you need to be adding content, which creates these new pages, and you need to do so on a regular basis.  With our DSS system, adding content is easy and it doesn’t take a lot of time.
