Do’s and Don’ts of SEO Content

You have probably heard at this point that search engines pay careful attention to keywords and key phrases when it comes to ranking websites.  So, it would seem logical to pack as many of these words and phrases into your content - after all, isn’t the goal to be on page one of Google?  Wrong.

What You Shouldn’t Do
Do not go overboard with your key phrases and keywords.  You do not want your content to become too repetitive or confusing.  Content that is solely focused on search engine optimization will repel your potential clients.

Don’t create a lengthy headline that does little to attract your prospects’ attention.  Your headline should be about 25 words or less and should offer a solution to your potential clients’ problems. 

What You Should Do
While creating content that attracts search engines is crucial, you need to also concentrate on converting web visitors into clients.  If you have content on your website that is hard for the human reader to understand, what good is being ranked high in search engine results? 

You need to develop content that gives your prospects a reason to believe that you are the expert on the subject and that they should contact you.  Your content needs to contain helpful information that answers your prospects’ questions.  It should also be relevant to the type of keywords and phrases they are searching for.

When using key phrases in your content, place them strategically.  Some of these areas include your headline, copy, anchor texts and call to action.
