A new study by Burson-Marsteller, a global public relations and communications firm, has discovered that most organizations have stepped into the social media arena, either by dabbling in it or taking it by force.
As social media continues to grow, law firms and other businesses are starting to take advantage of this powerful marketing tool.
Attorneys are using Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to get more cases.
Social media also allows companies to announce news and even promotional messages in a cost-effective manner. According to Burson-Marsteller’s
Fortune Global 100 Social Media Check-up study, “simple, responsible engagement in social media can reap big rewards in building relationships with stakeholders online.” Researchers looked into the
Fortune Global 100 companies’ involvement in social media, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and corporate blogging.
Based on researchers’ findings, 65 percent of these companies have active accounts on Twitter, 54 percent have fan pages on Facebook and 50 percent have YouTube video channels. Another 33 percent of the companies have corporate blogs.
U.S. companies had the highest usage in social media, except when it came to active blogs. Asian countries led the way in blogging with 50 percent of the companies reporting that they use this form of social media, in comparison with the 34 percent of U.S. companies that reported the same thing.
