Google’s Redesigned Search Results Page Could Impact Your SEO Strategy

Google has recently unveiled its redesigned search results page.  Now, when you conduct a search on Google, you will be presented with a navigation menu on the left side of the screen that looks very similar to the format used by other search engines.

The options in the navigation menu aren’t necessarily new, as Google has been offering them for quite some time.  The difference is that these options are highly visible, making it easier to filter through search results.  For example, you can choose to sort the results so only images appear or just blogs are listed.  Basically, it gives Web searchers more control over the content that shows up on the search results page.

Some of the items that you will now see in the left-side navigation bar include:

  • Books
  • Images
  • Videos
  • Maps
  • News
  • Shopping
  • Blogs
  • Updates (these are real-time search results from Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
  • Discussions

Some results can be sorted even further.  For example, you can filter by “nearby,” which is huge for local search.

Even though most of these options are not new, the fact that Google has put more emphasis on these categories means you may need to update your attorney SEO strategy accordingly.  At Foster Web Marketing, we have the tools and resources you need to create an effective Internet marketing campaign.  Contact us today at 888.886.0939 for more information.
