How Lawyers Can Use Podcasting as a Marketing Platform

When it comes to your attorney marketing, there are so many different avenues you may take, including print, radio, the World Wide Web. Within the Web, there is your personal site, your social media sites, and an eye on your search engine optimization. There is another medium that you may be missing, though - podcasts.

What are they?

A podcast is an audio file, usually in MP3 format, that a user may either listen to from their computer or download and listen to on their MP3 player. They usually have the option to subscribe to the podcast. When a new podcast is uploaded, it will automatically download onto their player. This way, the user is able to constantly stay updated.

What are the benefits?

  • 1. Reach a new audience. The home computer is no longer convenient for the modern user. No one is ever at home, and we demand information on the go. A podcast is a great way to reach this busy generation.
  • 2. Build a relationship with your listeners. As it is with all of the ways you contact your clients, you want to use it to build trust between them and you. The sound of your voice is an excellent way to accomplish this task.
  • 3. Authority. A podcast will highlight your expertise and your practice.
  • 4. Respond to customer feedback. Your clients will feel special if you respond to their questions through Facebook or Twitter, but to actually hear their name "live" will cause even more of an impact on that individual client. Likewise, it will also perk up the interest of others who would like to hear their name, as well.

Is it right for you?

Can you set-up a regularly updated podcast? If the podcast aspect of your attorney marketing goes stale, then there is no point. Be sure you are able to update it as often as you update your website and other social media sites.

Try it out. Let your clients not only know your face, but know your voice and your expertise. It's a great way to let them know that you have their best interest in mind.

First you need a microphone and recording software. Most computers come with basic audio recording software but a USB microphone makes a huge difference in sound quality.

Next, you need a hosting and publishing platform. We use Liberated Syndication because it allows us to host the videos and automatically feeds them to iTunes. It also gives you a player that you can embed on any website. Shoot me an email if you have any questions!
