It’s Not Enough to Be on Page One: Convert Search Queries into Website Visitors!

This week, we discussed the three major steps on the road to making your attorney website into a successful online marketing tool. While the first step in the process (getting on page one of the search engines) and the third step in the process (converting website visitors into clients) are obvious to anyone who has dabbled in web marketing, the middle step is often overlooked.

You must get search engine users to click on the search result that leads to your webpage.

When it comes to lawyer search engine marketing, it is simply not enough to be on page one of Google or any other search engine if no one reads the search result and decides to click through to your website. How can you make your Google search result more enticing?

  1. Write a killer title. When someone types words into a search engine, they are looking for information. They have a question that needs answering, and they would like an answer that comes from a reliable source. Does the title of your web page answer a question? Does it let your reader know that the information comes from an expert?
  2. Write a killer meta description. If a reader likes the look of your title, then they will likely glance at your meta description for more information. Is the description relevant to the keywords they typed into the search engine? They better be.
