Let’s Talk About Headline Writing

Would you read a newspaper article if it had a boring headline? You would probably skim the headline and move on to a more interesting article.  Headlines for your online articles, blogs and news updates aren’t any different.  Therefore, headlines have to be a part of your overall attorney SEO strategy.

While headlines are undoubtedly important, they don’t have to be difficult to create.  According to Wordtracker.com, you need to focus on the “knew” and “new.” Basically, this concept means you should incorporate something familiar in the headline, so your audience will recognize the content topic, but it should also have something new and intriguing.

If you are still at a loss on how to create an attractive headline, grab a magazine or newspaper.  Review how these headlines are constructed. You might be able to use the same structure for one of your headlines.  For example, you could transform a headline such as, “Summer Trends: Hot or Not-So-Hot?” to “Distracted Driving Trends: Good or Not-So-Good?”

When you are writing your headlines, remember that they don’t need to contain fancy words or legalese that the average person won’t understand.  Instead, keep it simple.
