Not long ago, Twitter unveiled an advertising opportunity, known as Promoted Tweets. According to SearchEngineNews.com, the “Promoted Tweet program allows advertisers to turn published tweets already in their Twitter stream into keyword activated top ranking ads, viewable to the general public.”
When someone searches a particular keyword or phrase, a Promoted Tweet will likely show up in the search results. Promoted Tweets contain the statement, “Promoted by...,” which lets readers know that they are paid ads. According to Twitter, “Promoted Tweets will also retain all the functionality of a regular Tweet including replying, Retweeting, and favoriting.”
Twitter also had the following to say about Promoted Tweets:
“We use several signals to determine a Promoted Tweets’ relevance to a user, including the public list of whom they follow. We will expand the rollout only when we feel we're delivering a high-quality user experience.”
Initially, the Promoted Tweet program was only offered to the major brands, such as Starbucks and Best Buy. It is unclear as to when it will be available to all marketers. Visit our website often for updates on this program and more.
