Promoting Your Practice on Twitter

Twitter for aattorneys
Penn State recently conducted a study that shows one in five Tweets are actually promoting a business, either by promoting web content, specials, or any other type of advertising.

While there isn't a Twitter etiquette that specifies how many times you should be promoting your firm or practice vs. tweeting non-promotive information, the only rule of thumb is to try not to be OVERLY promotive because people will indeed unfollow you if you're not building value in your tweets.

Remember, you have to have something to bring to the table, and just following three thousand people and only tweeting your blog or website rss feed isn't going to keep them around for long.

Twitter is a free and easy way to spread the word about your business at the grassroots level, but don't expect an immediate ROI. Networking for referrals, promoting content that results in more website and blog visits, and finding other professionals that may benefit your practice (doctors, other attorneys, etc.) are all things that you can do on Twitter, but while they may not pay off on the bottom line, you will get out of Twitter what you put in and you'll almost certainly find something (or someone) that will help you professionally if you know how to use Twitter.
