Smartphone users are ripe for your marketing efforts, says Google

Google recently conducted a survey of about five thousand U.S. adult smartphone users in an attempt to better understand the potential of the mobile marketplace. The results, they claim, reveal an advertising goldmine.

Not only are smartphone users actively searching online for goods and services, but they also use their phones in a wide variety of places. They use them at home, at the office, while watching TV and often - ill advisedly - while driving.

According to Google researchers, there are three kinds of smartphone internet searchers: action-oriented searchers, those seeking local information, and those seeking to buy something.

How can lawyers take advantage of the exploding mobile marketplace?

Attorneys need to focus on the first two types of information seekers - those with a goal ("I need a lawyer" or "I need information about the accident that just happened") and those seeking local info ("is there a law firm near me?" or "my sister needs an attorney, I wonder if there is anyone close to her.")
