Social Media & Text Messaging Have Killed the Phone Call

A handwritten letter is considered by many to be an ancient form of communication.  Could a good old-fashioned phone call be next?

Our Society Relies on Text-Based Communication

A recent article posted on Techcrunch.com, The Phone Call is Dead, brought up a very interesting point.  We live in a world that is dominated by text-based communication, including social media. Consequently, the phone call is becoming a less popular mode of communication.  The article referenced a Nielsen study that showed that voice usage has dropped in every age group with the exception of individuals aged 54+.

Even though smart phones, such as the iPhone and Android, have been in high demand, many people are using these devices for other purposes, besides making calls.  Consumers use these phones to send and receive text messages, access social media websites, watch videos and utilize other applications.

As a savvy attorney and/or business owner, you have to be able to embrace this type of change.  If the phone call is indeed “dying,” then it is time you took advantage of social media.  Make sure your potential clients can find you on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
