The 3 M’s of Law Firm Web Design: Monitor, Mobile Site, Mobile App

Web design for law firms has come a long way. Now, when we think of web design, we need to think about both the page users see on their monitors at home and your mobile attorney website for users on the go. The next element you need to consider is whether your attorney practice should have a mobile app.

Pros
A mobile website is great; but, unless your phone is picking up an internet signal or you pay extra for a plan, your site is not going to work. An app does not need the internet. As long as it is already downloaded onto the user’s smart phone or iPad, he or she will be able to bring up the app.

You can also customize the app by having a separate one for each area of practice. Perhaps someone has had a car accident. He can download that specific app, and it only asks questions strictly relating to car accidents. From the camera on his phone, he can snap pictures of damage and share them with the app. There can also be an area where they take down the other person’s insurance information.

Also, an app puts an icon on the user’s screen. This becomes a constant reminder of where he or she goes for certain items. If your icon is what the user sees first, then the need to search the Web for other representation is not even a thought.

Cons
Mobile app web design for law firms will cost you. You will have to buy each separate app you need for your practice. It is also hard to find an experienced programmer who develops apps; although apps are popular, they are still relatively in their beginning stages.

If you do have just a mobile app, this will not show up in search engine results. Not a good thing when it comes to your web marketing plan.

If money is no object and you want the best of both worlds for your clients, the answer is to simply have both! The choice is yours.
