Google always seems to be releasing innovative services and the newest addition is no different. Google launched an experimental service known as Social Search, which provides some marketing opportunities for attorneys and business owners. Basically, Google will allow you to see blogs and other content from your social network in the search results. The idea is that you can see the input of your friends and colleagues, rather than an anonymous website.
Some of the information that Google will search through includes
Twitter profiles you are following, Google Talk transcripts, subscribed RSS feeds and even your Gmail account. These results are typically found at the bottom of page one.
As far as SEO, you can use Social Search to your advantage. Getting on Twitter and actively posting updates, building your Google profile, increasing the number of subscribers to your law firm’s social profile and making more connections through Gmail and Google Chat are just a few ways to help you gain visibility within Google Social Search.
Google Social Search won’t show up automatically, you will need to sign up at Google Labs, if you want to try it out. The service is pretty simple to use.
