Web Marketing and the HTML Title Tag...You're It!

Lawyer search engine marketingrequires the big stuff, such as content, and it is also in the details. One of these details is the HTML title tag. The HTML title tag specifies the title of your web page and is inserted into the header. It needs to be context-rich and identify the contents of the web page it points to.

Who Uses the Title Tag?

  • Resource librarians, directory editors, and other webmasters all use your title tag when they link to your page. The better your tag, the faster it will be reviewed.
  • Future clients! The title is the most notable piece of information shown to search engine users. They are also able to see it when they are on the web page.
  • The search engine uses your HTML title tag to determine the topic of your web page, which then goes into the actual ranking of the page. Even though this seems like prime real estate to plug in a bunch of keywords, avoid this temptation!

Also, a note to the wise: titles should be in proper case, so learn your title capitalization rules.
