You may or may not like Facebook. You may be one of the people who agrees with Betty White when she said on Saturday Night Live, “It sounds like a huge waste of time...In my day, seeing pictures of people’s vacations was considered a punishment.”
A recent survey implies that not everyone is crazy about Facebook. The
American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) released its findings today, surprising many people. On a scale of 0 to 100, the ACSI gave Facebook a score of 64.
According to the ASCI’s press release, this number is based on interviews with about 70,000 customers annually. A commentary by Professor Claes Fornell states that “controversies over privacy issues, frequent changes to user interfaces, and increasing commercialization have positioned the big social networking sites at satisfaction levels well below other websites and similar to poor-performing industries like airlines and subscription TV service (both 66).”
The findings of this survey just don’t seem to fit the other numbers we hear on a regular basis. For example, Facebook boasts that it has up to 500 million registered users worldwide. If the satisfaction level was so low, why does the website keep growing at an exponential rate?
