Since Apple released the first generation iPad in April of 2010, iPad owners have been complaining about the lack of a Facebook app. The fact that iPhones already have a Facebook app made it seem even worse. It is now July, and Facebook still has not released an app for iPad, and the grumbling has turned almost hostile.
Lackluster Response
Facebook's response has been a bit lackluster, and iPad owners apparently do not appreciate it. Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg responded by saying that iPads are not mobile like smartphones. He feels that Facebook.com should be sufficient for iPad users. Although the mobility of the iPad is debatable, Zuckerberg doesn't seem to care much.
Good News
There is good news for those of you who own an iPad. There are many rumors going around the web that Facebook is getting ready to release a dedicated iPad app. The source states that the app has been in the works for about a year - if this is true, then it means Facebook started development just a couple of months after the release of the first iPad. Let's face it, an app which does one thing (allow access to Facebook) doesn't usually take a team of programmers a year to put together, so this one could be a pleasant surprise for everyone. It could also end up being the standard for all tablet computers.
