YouTube Feature Could Make Optimizing Attorney Videos Even More Important

YouTube, the largest video sharing website around, is testing out a new search feature called Topics on Search.  This new search function is currently only available in YouTube’s TestTube, but if it becomes permanent, it could make optimizing your attorney Web videos even more important.

How Topics on Search Works

The new search feature brings up results based on an algorithm that evaluates video tags, comments, shares and other factors.  When someone searches a generic term, Topics on Search will look for videos that it believes he or she might be interested in viewing.

YouTube gives the following example of how Topics on Search works:

“When you search -- for example, let’s say for “obama” -- we suggest other related topics tied to videos that you might want to explore, such as “michelle obama” or “john mccain.” You can click to get to videos on these topics or you can find videos that contain both topics by clicking on the (+) next to the topic.”

Video SEO is Crucial

Video optimization is already important, as it helps your potential clients find your videos.  Video SEO will become even more relevant if Topics on Search becomes a regular feature on YouTube.  To optimize your videos, you need to create video titles, summaries and tags that contain your targeted keywords.  You can learn more by reading our article, Optimizing Web Video is Easy With These 3 Steps!
