I created a Facebook page for my law firm - now what?

A: Congratulations on jumping on the social media marketing train! Now, start posting - you can talk about what's going on at your firm, interesting questions you are asked by clients, and the occasional personal tidbit.

Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Try to set aside time every day or every other day to interact with your fans on Facebook. You need to feed your social media site to keep it alive and make it work for you.
  • You can set up a feed from your website, so when you post content on your main site a link is added to your law firm's Facebook page. This will help draw your Facebook fans in to your site.
  • Don't just rely on automated feeds for content - add the occasional personal comment, just don't get too personal. Keep it friendly and interesting, but professional.
  • You talk to clients every day, so you know what kind of questions they have. You can comment on things you hear throughout the day, to show your fans that you are engaged.

Remember that the point of social media marketing is to build trust among your followers. Use Facebook and other social media outlets to reveal what a great gal or guy you are, how much you know about your area of the law, and how hard your work for your clients.

Lastly, don't forget to have a sense of humor! Your fans will appreciate you keeping it real - nobody wants to be marketed to 24/7.
