The Way We Communicate & Research Has Changed, So Should the Way You Market Your Practice
Things are constantly evolving, including the way we communicate with our friends, family members, business acquaintances and clients. Even the methods we use to research information have changed. A recent article in the Washington Post , “Verizon seeking permission to stop delivering white pages in Maryland, Virginia,” only confirms this fact.
Say goodbye to the white pages.
According to the article, Verizon, which is the biggest provider of land-line phones in the Washington region, asked for state regulators' permission to stop delivering the white pages in Virginia and Maryland. You may have thought the white pages was already a relic of the past, but for decades regulators throughout the country have made phone companies deliver these directories to the public. It wasn’t until recently that two of the nation’s largest land-line phone companies spoke up.
AT&T and Verizon have both argued that the majority of people are searching for telephone numbers on the Internet. Not surprisingly, consumers are also storing frequently used numbers in their cell phones.
The way of getting information has changed.
As an attorney or other business professional, you have to keep up with the trends. If you want to continue to attract clients, here are some things you need to do:
Create a dynamic website and constantly update it.
Add online video to your website and other video sharing sites, such as YouTube.
Take advantage of local marketing, by claiming your Google Places listing.
Get involved in social media (people are looking there for information), such as Twitter and Facebook.
This list is just a sample of some of the actions you need take if you want to stay in front of your potential clients. For more information, read our other articles:
