Now in Beta Testing, Google+ Will Offer 'Business Pages'

Google is the top search engine in a market filled with competition, and it only makes sense that it will soon offer the world what it is calling "Business Pages" within its new social networking platform Google+. This will offer business profiling to small and mid-size industries, including attorneys and their web marketing campaigns.

Think about it. As the top search engine, Google owns the very same market businesses are interested in tapping. That means that while businesses are putting together Google+ web marketing efforts, they will not only reap the same old social media benefits, but they now will have a brand new means of increasing their own searchability through Google itself. Clearly, this is something social media giant Facebook can't offer.

When Will Google+ Business Pages Be Available?

Google Product Manager Christian Oestlien has stated that their new product will first be tested with select companies who apply. Jeff Huber, the VP of Google's Local and Commerce division, has said that he "can't announce a launch date yet, but we want to make them great, and we're coding as fast as we can." Based on this excerpt, it seems that they are well on their way and could be in the tuning phase. Google also says that there will be a method for checking business ownership to ensure that the owner is in fact the owner and not some sort of copy-cat trying to take advantage of Google users.

What Features Can I Expect?

One of the best features of Google+ is that many of Google's current products will be integrated, such as Maps, Places, Docs, Calendar, Apps, News, Picasa, Gmail and now Business Pages. It seems that they're covering all aspects of online activity with good products, which is always an important factor to tech savvy consumers and small businesses.

Will It Change My Web Marketing Campaign?

With Google launching Google+ and the upcoming Business Pages, consumers and business owners can anticipate changes to online social networking and marketing. Google appears very serious about this, and hopefully they've learned their lessons from previously failed attempts at social networking.

You can bet that when Google releases Business Pages, many businesses will jump on board. Most of us search Google for information, so it's now a matter of putting together something that catches on with the masses. Foster Web Marketing will be on top of any upcoming news of Google+ and Business Pages, so stay tuned.
