Advertisers Spent More Money on Internet Ads Than Newspaper Ads

Posted on Dec 27, 2010

eMarketer has reported that 2010 will mark the first year where advertisers spent more money on Internet ads than print newspaper ads.

Based on the data collected from eMarketer, a digital marketing research company, U.S. businesses have thrown quite a few more dollars at Internet ads.  In 2010, spending on online ads reached a whopping $25.8 billion, while $22.8 billion was spent on newspaper ads.

This information is not surprising.  It is no secret that more and more people are using the Internet to locate products and services.  Consumers are even turning to the Internet to read the latest news.  They are also turning away from radio and magazines.

“It’s something we’ve seen coming for a long time, but this is the tipping point,” says Geoff Ramsey, the chief executive of eMarketer.
