Google announced last week that, starting on Tuesday, the company would begin reviewing all paused Adwords advertisements, just as they currently review active ads. They also told customers that following their review of all new paused ads, they would also review all existing paused ads.
Why the change?
According to a Google spokesperson, the policy change is designed to prevent ad-approval delays during times of heavy Adwords use, such as the upcoming winter holidays. The internet giant hopes that the new review process will allow companies to place paused ads up for review before the Christmas holidays or other busy times so that Google can review the ads in the weeks before they are officially published.
Google stressed in its email to customers that the review process will be the same for the paused ads as for the active ads, and that all paused ads that violate Google Adwords policies will not be approved.
While some Adwords users believe that the new review process is a smart preventative measure against possible holiday ad review delays, others worry that some businesses may be punished for advertising violations on ads that are not even active. Either way, all businesses should be sure to review their paused ads and check for violations before Google does.
