Do you need yet another reason to get plugged into social media websites, such as Twitter? Google launched Google Social Search on October 26, 2009, which will make searches more personal. When people use Google Social Search, they will see content from their own contacts that will show up in the search results.
This service is experimental and if you want to use it, you have to visit Google Labs. You need to have a profile with Google and be logged into your account to utilize the feature. When you conduct a search, Google will connect what the company refers to as your “social circle.” Your social circle includes your Gmail contacts, chat friends and people you have connected with on social sites, such as Twitter, FriendFeed, Yelp and Google Picasa. Facebook currently is not part of this service.
When you use Google Social Search, Google will look for content written by your contacts, whether it is a tweet or status update, and will include it in a section on the search results page called, “Results from People in Your Social Circle.” You will also be able to view blog posts from websites that you have subscribed to.
Now is the time to start using Twitter and other social media websites to build your business. For more information, check out the free report, Twitter for Attorneys, by Tom Foster and George Murphy.
