Google Makes It Easier to Monitor Your Reputation

Posted on Jun 22, 2011

Have you ever wondered what people are saying about your law firm or you, personally? Google just launched a new tool that is supposed to help you discover this information and more.

The tool, “Me on the Web,” is designed to assist individuals with managing search results for their name. It can be found in the Google dashboard that also houses your account information and analytics.

Why the New Google Tool?

There is some speculation as to why Google unveiled this new tool. While it does help you monitor your online reputation, the greater purpose might be to watch for and remove items you don’t want floating around the World Wide Web. It gives you a bit more control over posts, videos, photos and comments that are on the Internet.

Google is encouraging you to keep track of things being said about you by setting up search alerts for your name and even your email address. The search engine giant has gone as far as creating a “how to” for people looking to remove negative items from the Google index.

It is important that you know what is being said about you online, whether good or bad. This new tool will make online reputation management that much easier.
