Google Now Has Its Own Facebook “Like” Button

Posted on Apr 05, 2011

Oh, the infamous Facebook “like” button – it allows you to let others know when you are interested in a certain business, organization or a brand.  You can also “like” your friends’ pictures or comments. In fact, you can even like the latest video that has been posted by your nephew’s rock band. This one button alone has become a powerful tool for marketers. Now, Google has its own version, the “+1.”

While the +1 is very similar to Facebook’s “like” button, it is actually integrated right into Google’s search engine. According to Google, the +1 is basically a “public stamp of approval.” Here are some of the things you can expect from Google’s new social feature:

  • When you choose to +1 a link, your name will be connected to it across the Web.
  • Anything that you +1 will show up in your Google Profile.
  • +1 will allow you to “get recommendations for the things that interest you, right when you want them, in your search results.” (Source: http://www.google.com/+1/button/)

Google’s +1 button is still in the testing phase and if you want to use it, you will need to go through Google Labs.

The Internet is constantly evolving and social media is growing bigger every minute. You need to make sure that you are keeping up.
