Google, MSN, Yahoo, Ask and other search engines all use their own indexing algorithms and formulae in order to determine which sites get high rankings and which don't.
But a new search engine has taken the guesswork out of site rankings, and bases their rankings purely on the popularity of the sites in question.
OneRiot actually determines its site rankings by finding what they call "the pulse," which means they find out which sites people are going to and which topics are being looked up the most.
This is an interesting spin on search engines, and we imagine that Google will probably come up with its own variation very soon.
