5 Facebook Marketing Strategies to Help You Get More Clients

Did you know that on average, Facebook visitors spent seven hours on the social media site in March 2010? More than 117 million people in the United States visited Facebook that same month. It has been estimated that the number of Facebook’s unique visitors has gone up about 90 percent since last year. What does all of this mean? It means Facebook is a potential marketing beast that you can no longer ignore!

So often we hear clients talk about how they want to get on page one of Google, which is important. However, Facebook recently surpassed Google in terms of online traffic. That should lead you to believe that if you are going to spend all of that time and effort on ranking high on Google, you should also put some thought into how you are going to take advantage of Facebook. Social media is definitely something that should be incorporated into your attorney Internet marketing campaign.

Everyone is on Facebook nowadays and if you don’t have a page for your law firm, you are missing out. Small business owners, major retailers and even non-profit organizations have jumped on the social media bandwagon and are building a following of potential customers.

Whether you are just getting started on Facebook or have already obtained a page for your business, here are some ways that you can maximize your social media marketing efforts:

  1. Provide important and helpful information. You need to give people a reason to like your business page, which can be accomplished by focusing on interesting information.
  2. Concentrate on expanding relationships with potential clients. You can do this by responding directly to people when they post something on your page or comment on one of your status updates.
  3. Be conversational. Don’t use “legalese” when posting and talking to people on Facebook. First of all, it’s hard for the average person to understand and second, attorneys are the only ones who talk that way.
  4. Stay active. Just having a Facebook page is not enough, as you have to engage with people often. Try to post something every day or at least a few times a week.
  5. Link your blog to Facebook. You can set up your RSS feed so your new blog posts appear on your Facebook page.
