The Google AdWords official blog recently announced that it will be changing the ad rotations options that are available. Google had previously made changes to its ad rotation options over the summer and allowed users to either opt in or opt out of the changes. At that time, they promised that a high number of users choosing to opt out would convince them to add an option to rotate your ads indefinitely.
Although less than one percent of AdWords users have chosen to opt out of the changes, Google decided to go ahead and add the “rotate indefinitely” option. With the changes in place, you will be able to set your ad rotation to:
- Optimize for clicks. This option will show the ads that are most like to get more clicks.
- Optimize for conversions. This option will show the ads that are more likely to actually provide conversions.
- Rotate evenly. This option will rotate evenly through your ads for the first 90 days (previously this was set to 30 days), and it will then start optimizing for clicks.
- Rotate indefinitely. This added option now allows users to set their ads to rotate evenly regardless of performance, without eventually switching over to an optimized rotation.
If you want to check it out for yourself, just sign into your AdWords account and head to the Settings tab, choose “Advanced Settings,” and then click “Ad delivery: Ad rotation, frequency capping.” If you had previously opted out of the changes, you can expect your settings to change to “Rotate indefinitely” by the end of October.
