Spelling and grammar are not currently used by Google to directly assess the quality of lawyer web pages. However, even though writing quality does not directly affect your how your attorney website ranks, it absolutely can affect both the popularity and effectiveness of your website.

Google has found that accurate spelling and good grammar are often linked with highly-ranked web pages; that is, the higher a page is ranked, the better its spelling and grammar. What does this tell us? Readers appreciate pages that are well written, and other websites are more likely to link to well-written content.

Remember: content should not be written for search engines - it should be written for readers who need legal help. Would you call a lawyer whose website is full of poorly-constructed sentences, spelling mistakes, and slapdash content? Never. Would you call a lawyer who has clear, easy-to-understand content about the issues you care about? Absolutely.

Far too many web marketers and search engine optimizers focus on how search engines evaluate web pages, but the truth is that search engine algorithms strive to evaluate web pages like human readers. No matter what changes Google implements in the future, you can always make your website better by thinking about what your readers want. Without fail, they want typo-free, clear, and quality writing.
